What a SaaS affiliate programme is

A SaaS affiliate programme pays you for sending customers to subscription software. Because the customer pays every month or every year, the commission can repeat too. That is the main difference from recommending a one-off product, where you are paid once and that is the end of it.

Programmes vary a lot. Some pay a single fee per sign up, some pay a small percentage for as long as the customer stays, and some pay a larger share for a fixed period. Before you join any of them, check four things: the share, how long it lasts, when you are paid, and what happens when a customer asks for a refund.

How the UtilitySEO programme works

  • Refunds: a refunded payment, or a dispute the customer wins, comes off your next payout. A payout never goes below zero.
  • Yearly plans: your share is paid a twelfth a month, for the months inside your 12-month window.

A worked example with real prices

UtilitySEO has three plans. Minimum is £39 a month or £390 a year. Entrepreneur is £79 a month or £790 a year. Enterprise is £99 a month or £990 a year.

If someone you refer takes Enterprise monthly, they pay £99 and you get £49.50. If they stay for a year, that is 12 payments and £594 to you in total. On Entrepreneur monthly you get £39.50 a month, or £474 over a full year, and on Minimum £19.50 a month, or £234. If they leave after three months, you keep what those three months earned and nothing more.
