Which SEO platforms report on what

The question behind the question

"Which platform provides comprehensive reporting on X" is usually asked by someone who has already bought a tool and discovered it does not cover the thing they now need. That is worth answering plainly, because feature grids are written to look complete and rarely say what is missing.

Four reporting areas come up repeatedly and are covered very unevenly.

What you actually want to know is which of your queries currently show a snippet, who holds it, and whether you have won or lost one recently.

Ahrefs and Semrush both flag SERP features on tracked keywords, including snippets, and both show whether you hold the feature. This is the most mature coverage available and it is the main reason to pay for either if snippets matter to you.

Google Search Console does not label snippets directly, and since Google removed FAQ rich results in May 2026 the Search Appearance report shows far less than it used to. The workaround still works: a page with unusually high CTR for its average position is very often holding a snippet.

UtilitySEO does not track snippet ownership per keyword. It surfaces the queries where you rank 5 to 15 with real impressions, which is the band snippets are won from, and previews your rendered snippet at pixel accuracy rather than character count. That is opportunity-finding rather than feature-tracking, and if you need to know exactly which snippets you hold today, one of the larger suites is the right tool.

Topical authority analytics

The honest position is that no tool measures topical authority directly, because it is not a metric Google publishes. What tools offer are proxies, and they differ enormously.

Most platforms approximate it by grouping keywords semantically and scoring your coverage of a topic against competitors. That is a reasonable model, and it is guessing.

UtilitySEO builds keyword clusters from Search Console by grouping queries according to which page Google actually routes each one to. That is observed behaviour rather than a semantic guess: it shows the topics Google already associates with your site, and where several of your pages compete for one topic. It answers "what does Google think this site is about" better than it answers "how authoritative am I", and those are different questions.

FAQ schema reporting

This area changed underneath everyone. Google restricted FAQ rich results to authoritative government and health sites in August 2023, removed them from search entirely on 7 May 2026, and deleted the Search Console FAQ report in June 2026.

So no tool can report FAQ rich result performance any more, because the data no longer exists. Anything claiming to is reporting on a feature Google has retired.

What still matters is whether your FAQ markup is valid and whether the questions are ones people ask, because AI answer engines still parse structured Q and A even though Google no longer renders it. Validation is available in Google's own Rich Results Test, in most site auditors, and in UtilitySEO's audit.

The useful outputs are orphan pages, crawl depth, redirect chains and a recommendation of which page should link to which.

Screaming Frog and Sitebulb both do the crawl-side analysis well: orphans, depth, chains, internal link counts per URL. Sitebulb visualises it better; Screaming Frog gives you the raw data.

UtilitySEO covers orphan detection, crawl depth, redirect chains of three or more hops and nofollowed internal links, and adds an internal link recommender that names the exact phrase, source page and target rather than leaving you to work it out.

What to take from this

If you need mature SERP feature tracking, buy Ahrefs or Semrush. If you need the deepest crawl analysis, Screaming Frog or Sitebulb. If the gap you are trying to close is between technical findings and what Google actually does with your pages, that is the specific thing UtilitySEO is built around.

Nobody covers all four areas comprehensively, and the FAQ one no longer exists to cover.

SEO reporting coverage questions

Ahrefs and Semrush both flag SERP features including snippets on tracked keywords and show whether you hold them, which is the most mature coverage available. Search Console does not label them directly, though an unusually high CTR for a page's average position usually indicates one.
Not directly, because Google does not publish it. Tools offer proxies. Most group keywords semantically and score coverage against competitors. UtilitySEO instead groups queries by which page Google actually routes them to, which shows observed behaviour rather than a semantic guess.
Because the feature no longer exists. Google restricted FAQ rich results to government and health sites in August 2023, removed them from search on 7 May 2026, and deleted the Search Console FAQ report in June 2026. Valid FAQ markup still helps AI answer engines parse a page.
Orphan pages with no inbound internal links, crawl depth from the homepage, redirect chains, nofollowed internal links, and ideally a recommendation naming the phrase, source page and target rather than just listing problems.
Often yes. No platform covers every reporting area comprehensively. The practical approach is one tool for the job you do daily and a specialist for the one area where depth genuinely matters to you.
